Working with Plunkett & Associates over the last six years, one of my most rewarding experiences has been helping tell stories about those served by Scheck & Siress, an orthotic and prosthetic company with a variety of locations throughout the Chicago area.

And among those stories has been the developing one about Melissa Stockwell. She is not only a prosthetist but an amputee on the receiving end of care.

I first blogged about Melissa in September 2008. As part of the coverage that occurred at that time, you can see a New York Times video on Melissa.

Since then, she has managed to tack on more than a few additional inspirational and humbling chapters to her story. The latest, which I highly recommend reading, was captured by Julie Deardorff on the front page of the Chicago Tribune last week.
